ISA Bronze medal winners!

Posted: 6th October 2023

What a day, a first for Kew College Prep – the ISA girls National football tournament. Seven very excitable, slightly nervous Year 5 & 6 girls headed to the LVS Ascot astroturf to prepare for what was to be a busy day of matches. Our day kicked off with matches against Rosemead Prep and Danesfield Manor, we began to find our feet and Chloe and Zosia cleared our defensive lines efficiently. Florrie and Penelope combined well in mid field channelling the ball up to our strikers Evie and Isabelle, the latter scoring a fantastic corner against Gosfield School.

Into the quarter finals and things started to heat up. Our opponents St Marys, Henley were a formidable group and unbreakable in defence. A 0-0 tie led straight to penalties – the drama! Anna wow wow wow amazing keeper saving 3 penalties and with Zosia and Evie slotting theirs away we were through to the semis, time to take a breath.

A close fought semifinal against Alleyn Court, could of gone either way as both teams played lovely football throughout the pitch, lots of communication and attempts on goal but it was not to be quite enough and they pipped us 1-0. Into the match no one wants to lose the 3rd/4th play off. Win you are a heroine, lose and you dream of what could have been.

Up against a familiar team in Parsons Green prep, teams very well matched although we had the majority of the possession. Some kerfuffle in our attacking end, a definite VAR referral (if it had been available) went our way and Evie slotted home an in the end decisive winner in the bottom right corner. The girls held their nerves and were victorious – BRONZE MEDAL WINNERS and thoroughly deserved.
