Year 2 Spring Concert

Posted: 22nd March 2023

A massive well done for a lively, energetic concert from the eldest part of our Infant House! Continuing with Year 2 tradition, their theme again this year was ‘Safari’ which ties in with their wider curriculum. The choir performed five pieces that were enjoyed by the children and audience alike: Down in the Jungle, The Monkees Theme, Africa, I Wanna Be Like You (The Monkey Song), and Wimmoweh (The Lion Sleeps Tonight). Some of these are classics that the children have learnt previously, although it was an utter delight to see them taking on the challenge of brand-new repertoire thrown into the mix as well. For the finale dance this year, Year 2 performed a new piece Jerusalema which had the audience tapping along to the irresistible African beat.

Alongside the fabulous choir, we had lots of piano and violin soloists performing a wide variety of pieces; we heard just about every genre you could think of! Well done to all of you for playing your solo with such confidence and poise.

Our Year 2 concert would not have been possible without a little help behind the scenes. I would like to thank the Year 2 team: Mrs Edwards, Miss Black, Miss Ince, and Miss Eliza for their contributions throughout, and of course a big thank you to Mr Roy for the finale dance choreography, and our wonderful instrumental teaching staff for their endless support of our soloists.

Year 2 have worked incredibly hard to put this concert together, and it was a proud moment to see how far they have come since doing their debut concert this time last year. I look forward to seeing their progress again when they perform as part of the Junior House next year! Well done again to all.
